The exhibition was conceived as a network of interconnected nodes with a common purpose: to trigger a discussion from different perspectives concerning Markets. Among these nodes-which can be interpreted from a non-linear perspective and seen as a whole various actors may be identified: the artists, their pieces, and the concepts linking them to the Museo Banco de México. In this context, this ABC was proposed and lists all the nodes comprising the network of the exhibition Mercados desde el arte contemporáneo in alphabetical order, placing them on equal ground and without a preconceived thematic hierarchy so each is presented individually and as a self-contained notion, all harmoniously linked to one another.
The content was adapted so each entry fits within the exhibition’s objective, acting as a guide to identify the threads knitting the collection together. It would be incorrect to consider them as absolute or accurate dictionary definitions. As for the concepts listed, several descriptions were found in economic and financial education literature, some were written expressly to anchor the exhibit’s proposals with economic and financial education, while others contain the explanations suggested by the artists themselves. The latter provided their own interpretations of keywords, adding their own dusting of spice to entice the readers’ intellectual sense of taste. As chefs season their dishes, the artists enriched their contributions to the exhibit with their own definitions.
This ABC is an ideal format to present the various interweaved artworks that make up Mercados desde el arte contemporáneo.
